Ascendant Engineering Services Will Present on Its Weapon Shock Simulator at NDIA Joint Armaments Conference

ID: 1114664

(firmenpresse) - AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 05/15/12 -- The buzz continues in the defense industry over Ascendant Engineering Services' (AES) Small Arms Weapon Shock Simulator (WSS).

The latest evidence of this trend was in full force when AES Principal Greg Mooty was accepted to present on the sophisticated simulators at the prestigious , which will be held May 14-17 in Seattle, Washington.

AES () has already sold nearly a dozen of the , which were made available last year to the U.S. Military and to other companies that sell products and services to the defense industry.

The WSS has already been featured in articles in , the , and , the local ABC affiliate in Austin.

Mooty's appearance at the conference, where he will speak on the morning of May 17, only amplifies the buzz surrounding the new WSS.

"These are exciting times at AES," said Jon Noeth, co-founder and President of the company. "Ascendant has grown from Austin's largest contract-engineering firm to a company that also capitalizes on market opportunities, like the need for a product like the WSS."

Noeth said that the WSS emerged as a viable product because the U.S. Military's previous practice of requiring a soldier to take a newly configured weapon system accessory to the gun range and fire the weapon thousands of times before it could be certified for use was problematic on several fronts, including: the cost to deploy the test resources, the cost of the ammunition, range safety concerns and the fact that environmental toxins are deposited into the ground and released into the atmosphere.

Years in the making, the WSS has become a qualified success in the marketplace. The U.S. Army, for example, approved the Weapon Shock Simulator as a substitute for live fire testing last fall. With the Army on board, many other customers have lined up to purchase the system.

About AES

AES was founded in 2004 by six partners, each bringing a different area of engineering expertise to the field. They believed that by integrating their diversity of knowledge, they could open up new avenues for collaboration and innovation. So they envisioned a new kind of engineering firm, one that embraced a culture of cross-disciplinary interaction and research. Drawing on 100 years of combined experience, the founding partners transformed that concept into a successful engineering firm, and AES was born.
