'The Mirror' Hits Venues From San Fran to South Florida
(firmenpresse) - WILTON MANORS, FL -- (Marketwire) -- 05/14/12 -- Wilton Manors-based (SFGN) announced today the publication and release of its second issue of a gay, national, quarterly, content-driven magazine, which has garnered national acclaim and attention.
The second issue of the glossy magazine features a cover story on the late Steve Walker, whose international recognition as a portrait artist showcased the lives of gay men. Also included is a profile of the renowned gay Hollywood producers, Storyline Entertainment's Neil Meron and Craig Zadan. Other pieces include special sections on Gay Pride and Faith, debunking the ex-gay myths, and an inside look at gay guesthouses in South Florida, appropriately titled "Out Inns." A special profile on Kate Clinton, 'The Comedienne as Activist' also is shared in the 52-page magazine.
The first issue of included a cover story on Design Star David Bromstad, mini-profiles on national LGBT leaders who are 'making a difference,' a thoughtful discussion about the Supreme Court's case on same-sex marriage, and a testimonial to the late Frank Kameny, the man who for fifty years led the fight against discrimination of gays in the US military. There was also a lengthy piece exposing how Palm Beach Sheriff's deputies unfairly targeted gay men with lewd act arrests, many of which were challenged as suspect.
Published out of the offices of SFGN.com in the heart of Wilton Manors, at 2520 North Dixie Highway, also included profiles of Scott Pasfield's commemorative coffee table book, "Gay in America."
Publisher Norm Kent, a Fort Lauderdale attorney, said the name was chosen because the magazine would "illuminate and reflect the positive contributions of America's LGBT community. Response has been marvelous, and each of our first two issues has sold out all its advertising space."
Kent indicated that over 10,000 issues were shipped today to gay venues across the country today, from South Florida to San Francisco, including LGBT community centers, nightclubs, and the popular 'Out of the Closet' consignment shops, run by the charitable AIDS Healthcare Foundation. The magazine can also be read online and printed out in a PDF version at .
