Minister of Labour Announces Reappointment of Elaine Kierans to the Canadian Artists and Producers Professional Relations Tribunal
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 05/14/12 -- The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Minister of Labour, today announced the reappointment of Ms. Elaine Mary Kierans as part-time Vice-Chairperson of the Canadian Artists and Producers Professional Relations Tribunal (CAPPRT) for a one-year term, effective immediately.
"Ms. Kierans brings a great combination of people skills, education and more than 20 years of work experience. She is a great asset to the Tribunal," said Minister Raitt.
Ms. Kierans was first appointed to the CAPPRT in May 2007. From 2006 to 2009, she was a director at Brighter Minds Media Inc., a leading provider of children's educational and entertainment multimedia products. From 1998 to 2004, she held the positions of Vice-Chair and Director of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, and served as Chair of the Human Resources Committee and member of the Finance Committee of the Commission.
Ms. Kierans has a Bachelor of Laws degree and Bachelor of Civil Laws degree from McGill University. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Institute of Corporate Directors.
The CAPPRT is an independent quasi-judicial tribunal created in 1993 under the Status of the Artist Act. The mandate of the tribunal is to encourage constructive professional relations between independent professional artists and producers within the federal jurisdiction.
