Thesys International Hybrid Courses Will Be Implemented in Two Pasadena Schools

(firmenpresse) - ANAHEIM, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/14/12 -- , an education technology business that supports schools with a hybrid online/classroom approach to education, is providing hybrid-education curricula for four courses in two pilot programs funded through the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD).

Students are currently enrolled in a pilot program at Rosemary Children's Services. The residential non-public program for abused girls offers a credit recovery curricula aimed at getting the students caught up with the number of credits required to graduate or enroll in a comprehensive high school.

The other program is an independent study program at a CIS Academy aimed at preparing students for the California Standardized Test (CST). Thesys provided a modified biology course with CST prep. Utilizing the same materials as a typical biology course, this class also allows students to review materials in a variety of formats, including videos, games, reading and podcasts, prior to scheduled assessments. An online teacher/mentor is available to help students who need additional help. The program is expected to benefit the district by preparing students for higher scores on the standardized tests.

Thesys collaborated with a select group of teachers working to fine-tune the program prior to launch of the program in the spring. This gives the teachers time to learn the course materials and allows Thesys to make modifications, gather feedback about time constraints and identify which components generated the most excitement among students.

Principals at both schools have been extremely supportive and enthusiastic about the programs, which may be expanded to a wider group of students after the pilots.
