Spectrum Bridge Partners With Neul for Global M2M Communications Over TV White Spaces

ID: 1113912

(firmenpresse) - LAKE MARY, FL and CAMBRIDGE, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 05/14/12 -- Spectrum Bridge, Inc. today announced a partnership with Neul to expand the global deployment of TV White Spaces (TVWS) networks for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications.

Spectrum Bridge and Neul are working together to expand the white space ecosystem by enabling innovative partners around the world to develop M2M applications running on Weightless, the first open network standard developed for TVWS communications. The partnership will expand Neul's spectrum management expertise and exposure to the U.S. market and Spectrum Bridge will gain access to developing the global M2M segment. Both companies will be working together to achieve FCC certification of Neul's innovative products. Neul's radio technology together with the Spectrum Bridge platform enables the efficient use of TVWS to create networks for broadband delivery and M2M communications.

"Neul's innovative Weightless M2M solution is an ideal technology for applications requiring a cost effective, ultra reliable connection, which consumes very little power and supports a large number of devices and capacity," said Rod Dir, CEO of Spectrum Bridge. "By partnering with Neul, we have the ability to not only leverage the knowledge of a recognized leader in M2M communications, but to bring our spectrum management technology and expertise to a global audience."

M2M communications is the fastest growing market in wireless. Networks have been deployed for a variety of applications (smart grid for utilities, public safety networks, inventory management, security, etc.), and will continue to grow exponentially. According to the latest findings from ABI Research, the global market for cellular M2M connections will grow to over 365 million connections by 2016. Based on these projections, this would translate to approximately $35 billion in connectivity services revenue for operators. And the total potential market is far higher: IMS Research forecast 22bn 'connected devices' by 2020.

"Our innovative solution and open standard is designed to change the way devices and applications communicate," said Luke D'Arcy, VP Marketing at Neul. "We are pleased to be able to offer the Spectrum Bridge platform as an integrated solution with the world's first white space radio system. Spectrum Bridge is a true leader in TV White Space innovation and their knowledge and expertise will be invaluable as we seek to expand our operations in the U.S."

Spectrum Bridge, Inc. (SBI) develops technology and intellectual property that virtualizes spectrum by giving wireless devices access to available bandwidth more efficiently. SBI's cloud-based platform provides customers with greater network capacity, coverage and utilization through efficient allocation of spectrum resources. The company's platform also enhances service providers and radio manufacturer's solutions by utilizing a database-driven cognitive networking technology designed to promote co-existence. SBI was named a top innovator in the area of technology for its TV White Spaces network by the Andrew Seybold 2010 Choice Awards. The company is privately held and headquartered in Lake Mary, Florida. For more information, contact us at (866) 598-7426 or visit .

The name Neul is pronounced like 'fuel' and is from the Gaelic word for 'Cloud.' Neul was formed in Cambridge, UK in 2010 by a group of entrepreneurs with successful track record. The core management team was responsible for building Europe's most successful fabless semiconductor company, CSR.

Neul aims to unify the fragmented world of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications, with the world's first white space radio system and a new, open M2M communications standard.

Neul is transforming wireless data communications being the first to enable access to large amounts of license exempt UHF spectrum, vastly reduce the costs of base stations and the terminals needed for wide area wireless networks. This will enable our customers to build networks and applications that offer completely new kinds of devices, services and business models.

Neul's grand vision is to bring about a revolution in the way devices and applications communicate. From the predicted 50 billion connected Machine-to-Machine (M2M) devices, through smart metering to local broadband delivery, transportation and beyond, Neul is helping to create 'the internet of everything.'
