Pratt & Whitney Canada Congratulates Embraer on Delivery of 300 Phenom Business Jets

ID: 1113659

- PW500 turbofans are the fractional ownership market's engines of choice - PW600 is the preferred engine for new generation very light and light jets

(firmenpresse) - GENEVA, SWITZERLAND -- (Marketwire) -- 05/13/12 -- Embraer announced recently that it has delivered its 300th Phenom business jet, an impressive milestone for an aircraft that entered into service only in 2008. The Phenom 100 and 300 business jets are powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada's (P&WC) PW617F-E and the PW535E engines, respectively. P&WC is a United Technologies Corp. company (NYSE: UTX).

"The success of the Embraer Phenom family of aircraft is a testament to the aircraft's appeal in this segment of the business jet market," said David Van der Wee, Vice-President, Marketing, P&WC. "Powered by P&WC engines specifically designed for these complimentary market segments, the Phenom delivers excellent operating value and superior environmental performance."

PW500: an engine built for the fractional market

The PW500 engine family ranges from 2,900 to 4,500 pounds thrust. With more than 3,100 engines produced, the PW500 family has accumulated over 9 million flight hours. The engine has proven highly successful with the fractional ownership industry because of its solid operating economics and durable performance. The engine's basic overhaul interval is 5,000 hours, which translates into less time in the shop and more time flying. The PW500 also has an impressive track record for reliability. Equipped with the latest in technology, the engines provide for excellent fuel efficiency, environmental performance, advanced engine health management and diagnosis - all of which ensures a high standard in aircraft dispatch availability. The engine powers the majority of fractional business jets operating today, popular for its compact, light-weight design.

PW600: a powerful engine in a small package

There are approximately 2,000 PW600 engines in service with more than one million flight hours on three applications. The PW600 family of turbofan engines can deliver from 900 to 3,000 pounds of thrust and is at the heart of the light and very light jet market. These jets have made the convenience and efficiency of point-to-point customized air travel available to more people and businesses at a low cost. The PW600 exceeds all environmental requirements for aircraft engines of this kind.

Both PW617F-E and the PW535E engines feature FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) which provides for dual-channel redundancy, ease of operation, reduced workload, and intelligent health monitoring and diagnostics.
