Brandery Launches FoundersCard; Deadline Looms
Local Deals With Business Owners Now Part of Startup Accelerator's Offerings
(firmenpresse) - CINCINNATI, OH -- (Marketwire) -- 05/11/12 -- Startup accelerator has sought out business owners in the Cincinnati community to offer VIP treatment to the entrepreneurs in its program. The deadline to apply for the 2012 class is next Tuesday, May 15.
By adding local enhancements to the national FoundersCard program, Brandery entrepreneurs will receive special offers, deals and discounts reserved only for them from some of the best vendors in town.
is a New York-based program that provides deals and discounts for entrepreneurs with more than 100 travel-related businesses, hotels, retailers and restaurants. The Brandery pays a one-year membership for each entrepreneur in the accelerator and also is building a network of Cincinnati-area retailers, restaurants and other attractions to offer deals to the founders. The first group of Cincinnati businesses includes: 4EG, Bakersfield, 1215 Coffee Lab, A Tavola, Nada, Fusian, Enjoy the Arts, Taft Museum, and Ultimate Air Shuttle.
"These entrepreneurs are taking big risks to start companies, create jobs and contribute to the entrepreneurial community," Brandery General Manager Mike Bott said. "The local extension of the FoundersCard is a way to acknowledge their hard work and quickly help them become part of the Greater Cincinnati area."

. The Brandery will hire developers or designers who don't have a specific startup idea but want to work for one. Called "brandsmiths," these professionals will work full-time for a stipend with Brandery participants and may have the opportunity to join one of the startups. . The Brandery is soliciting applications from education-focused startups. The Greater Cincinnati Foundation has funded a new initiative called edSpark to encourage educational innovation. Startups focused on education initiatives should apply through the standard channel.
The Brandery is a Cincinnati-based nonprofit startup accelerator founded in 2010 by David Knox, J.B. Kropp, Bryan Radtke and Rob McDonald with the goal of supporting startups in technology-based consumer experiences. More than 50 mentors work with the companies, which each receive $20,000 in seed money. Leading Cincinnati-based design firms offer free branding and visual identity guidance to each of the startups. Quantifiable benefits available to Brandery companies exceed $175,000. Good candidates are consumer-facing startups such as consumer Internet, media and entertainment companies that are based on technology platforms.
The Brandery is an inaugural member of the Global Accelerator Network -- independently owned regional organizations that operate startup accelerator programs in dozens of cities across the United States and around the world.
