Mother of Two Undergoes Mommy Makeover With Bay Area Plastic Surgeon
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/10/12 -- After giving birth to two children, Jennifer was unhappy with the appearance of her body despite her dedication to diet and exercise. She was bothered by a loss of breast volume, a loss of abdominal contour, and stubborn accumulations of fat around her hips and thighs. Despite working hard at the gym, eating exceptionally well, and avoiding alcohol and sugar, Jennifer believed she had "maxed out" what she could achieve on her own: "I had my two daughters back to back. After my second daughter was born, I ran daily and ate well, but my stomach would never get toned and the skin just hung there. My breasts were sagging and I had stubborn fat that would not go away even though I was in the best shape of my life." She says she finally accepted the fact that it may be time to consider the .
After a great deal of research both online and off, Jennifer says she decided to schedule a consultation with Dr. Karen Horton. She believed that as a female surgeon, and mother of twins herself, Dr. Horton might understand her situation best, as she had also experienced some of the same effects pregnancy and childbirth can have on a woman's body. "I went to see Dr. Horton for a mommy makeover and she spent over an hour with me at our first visit, teaching me about the options available to me as a mother," says Jennifer.
At her practice, Dr. Horton says Jennifer is not alone, as many women that visit her practice express similar concerns: "When I first met Jennifer, she was ready to accept my professional opinion and expertise to help her achieve her goals. She wanted to regain the breast fullness she had in her twenties, get back the flat tummy she had before pregnancy, and contour her hips and inner and outer thighs to better show her muscle definition hidden beneath." We devised a three-part plan to address these areas of concern in a single procedure, which in turn would mean she only had to experience a single anesthesia and one recovery period.
with silicone gel implants: Jennifer chose silicone gel breast implants because of the more natural look and feel.
Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck: in addition to removing excess skin and fat in the lower abdominal area, Dr. Horton "corseted" the rectus abdominus muscles to correct the separation in Jennifer's stomach commonly caused by pregnancy.
Liposuction: Dr. Horton employed a process known as the "super wet" technique, which minimizes bruising using tiny incisions hidden in the natural creases of the body.
Dr. Horton says the entire procedure took roughly six hours, and required Jennifer stay in the hospital overnight. However, for procedures of this nature, she says the overnight stay enables the patient to feel comfortable and safe during the early postoperative recovery period, as nurses care for her during the first 24 hours following the completion of the procedure in order to provide medications and educate her about what to expect when she returns home. Dr. Horton says this was a special case for her: "I am honored and privileged to care for each and every patient. But planning and carrying out Jennifer's mommy makeover was especially gratifying. Being of mother of twins myself, and pursuing running and physical fitness personally, I can intimately relate to changes in a mother's body after pregnancy and the desire to return not only to pre-pregnancy activities, but to re-establish one's body image."
