Minister Toews Statement on the 17th Removal from the "Wanted by the CBSA" List
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 05/09/12 -- The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, made the following statement regarding today's announcement by the Canada Border Services Agency on the removal of Canute Cedric Green. To date, as a result of the "Wanted by the CBSA" program, Canadians have assisted in locating 25 individuals in Canada, while four individuals were located abroad. Green, the 17th individual from the "Wanted" list to be removed, is inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality for being convicted of trafficking in a controlled substance. He has been convicted of robbery, assault causing bodily harm, carrying a concealed weapon and assaulting a peace officer. He was apprehended by the Toronto Police Service on April 15 in the Greater Toronto Area and removed from Canada on May 8, 2012.
"The removal of this individual further demonstrates that Canada will not be a haven for those who try to enter or live here illegally, who have broken the law and have endangered the safety of our citizens. We are committed to identifying, detaining and removing those individuals who pose a threat to the safety and security of Canadians.
I congratulate the CBSA on the continued success of the "" program and thank Canadians for their continued assistance in locating these individuals."
