FEI Canada Announces 2012 Frank S. Capon Distinguished Service Award Winner
Dr. T. Ross Archibald Honoured for Outstanding Contributions to FEI Canada
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 05/09/12 -- Financial Executives International Canada (FEI Canada), the professional membership association for senior financial executives, is pleased to announce that Dr. T. Ross Archibald, BA, MBA, PhD, FCA, is the recipient of the 2012 Frank S. Capon Distinguished Service Award.
"It is an honour to recognize Dr. Archibald as our Capon winner this year," said Michael Conway, FCA, chief executive and national president of FEI Canada. "Ross has been a great contributor to FEI Canada's pursuits in the areas of research and advocacy. He has also passed the value of volunteerism onto his daughter Nicole, who is currently vice president of our Southwestern Ontario Chapter."
Dr. Archibald, a member of FEI Canada's Southwestern Ontario Chapter, is a Professor Emeritus of the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, and an eminent member of the Southwestern Ontario professional and academic communities. Dr. Archibald holds a BA (Honours) from the University of Western Ontario, and an MBA as well as a PhD from the University of Chicago. Dr. Archibald later authored a research study on pensions that served as the basis for Section 3460 of the CICA Handbook.
Dr. Archibald has been an active member of the Southwestern Ontario Chapter of FEI Canada since its inception in 1977. He is a well-respected member of the accounting and business community, and, a very important asset to FEI Canada. One of his most notable contributions to the organization was the development of six pension research studies that brought extensive recognition to the FEI Canada brand. Dr. Archibald continues to promote membership in the Southwestern Ontario Chapter where he attracted many members. His background and vast knowledge made him a valuable member of the Financial Executives Research Foundation (FERF) from 1982-86. During his time with FERF, Dr. Archibald was appointed as a member of a task force in charge of developing better ways to structure financial reporting and disclosure. The task force included 30 of the most prestigious American academics in addition to Dr. Archibald, who was the only Canadian on the team. This year's Frank S. Capon Distinguished Award Winner was also a member of the Committee on Corporate Reporting (CCR) from 1991-2000, a tradition carried on by his daughter Nicole when she was on CCR from 2008-2011.
Dr. Archibald will be recognized for his long-standing contributions to FEI Canada and the financial community at large at FEI Canada's annual conference, which will be held in St. John's from June 6-8, 2012. This award honours Mr. Frank S. Capon, who was an outstanding FEI Canada member for 57 years, and is credited for bringing FEI to Canada in 1948.
