Minister Raitt Announces Appointment of Mr. Kin Choi to the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 05/08/12 -- Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, announced the appointment of Mr. Kin Choi as part-time Chairman of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) for a four-year term, effective May 3, 2012.
"I am pleased that Mr. Choi has accepted this nomination," said Minister Raitt. "His visionary leadership style and his wide-ranging management experience and knowledge, at both the federal and provincial levels, will bring long-term benefits to the CCOHS."
Mr. Choi currently works as Assistant Deputy Minister, Compliance, Operations and Program Development in the Labour Program at Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. He has also held several senior executive positions in the public service, including Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services Branch at Health Canada.
Known as a proven leader, Mr. Choi holds a Master of Public Administration degree and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba. He has also completed relevant management studies at Harvard University and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The CCOHS, located in Hamilton, Ontario, was created in 1978 to promote the fundamental right of Canadians to a healthy and safe working environment. Governed by a tripartite council representing the federal, provincial and territorial governments, employers and workers, the CCOHS provides Canadians with unbiased and relevant information that supports responsible decision making on health and safety issues in the workplace.
