Minister Raitt Announces Reappointment of Mr. Graham Clarke to Canada Industrial Relations Board
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 05/08/12 -- Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, announced the reappointment of Mr. Graham Clarke as full-time Vice-Chairperson to the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) for a four-year term, effective on May 3, 2012.
"I am pleased that Mr. Clarke has accepted this reappointment to the CIRB," said Minister Raitt. "His broad experience and knowledge in federal labour law will continue to make a meaningful contribution to the Board."
Mr. Clarke has had a distinguished 25-year career working in both of Canada's legal systems, common and civil law, and has been an active member of the Quebec and Ontario Bars since 1987. Before being appointed as Vice-Chairperson of the CIRB in 2007, Mr. Clarke was a partner in two of Canada's largest law firms. He is also the author of almost 300 labour board decisions.
Mr. Clarke studied Civil Law at Universite Laval and Common Law at Queen's University.
The Canada Industrial Relations Board is an independent, representational, quasi-judicial tribunal. Its mandate is to interpret and apply the provisions of Part I of the Canada Labour Code that deal with bargaining rights and unfair labour practices. For more information on the Board, visit .
