Minister Toews Issues Statement on Arrest from "Wanted by the CBSA" List
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 05/07/12 -- The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, commended the Canada Border Services Agency on the May 4 arrest of Tarquin Seemongal in Montreal. Seemongal is the 25th individual apprehended from "Wanted by the CBSA" list. Since the launch of the "Wanted by the CBSA" list on July 21, 2011, the CBSA has removed 16 of these individuals from Canada.
"This individual is inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality - his convictions include breaking and entering with intent, robbery, forcible confinement and using a firearm while committing an offence. The apprehension of this individual clearly reinforces our government's ongoing commitment to protecting Canadians and the safety of our communities. The continued success of the "Wanted by the CBSA" program demonstrates that Canada will not be a haven for those who try to enter or live here illegally, who have broken the law and have endangered the safety of our citizens.
The Government of Canada remains committed to identifying, detaining and removing those individuals who pose a threat to the safety and security of Canadians."
