Digital examinations with EVRY

(Oslo, 4 May 2012) The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training has
entered into an agreement with EVRY, formerly EDB ErgoGroup, for the delivery of
operations, monitoring and security solutions for the Directorate's portals and
websites. The agreement represents total contract value over eight years in
excess of NOK 45 million, and runs for three years with an option to extend for
a further five years.
The Directorate provides a range of digital services for the Norwegian school
system. This principally involves digital tests and examinations, but the
Directorate also operates a portal known as Skoleporten that provides
information for pupils and parents, the National School register and the
Directorate's own websites.
These services play an important role in interaction between schools, education
professionals and the Directorate. The Directorate's services for national tests
and examinations play a particularly critical role since the successful conduct
of the test examinations depends on the capacity and accessibility of these
services.
The Directorate has now renewed its collaboration with EVRY for the operation
and maintenance of its portals together with related products and services. The
operating services provided include all hardware, software and other
infrastructure components.
"EVRY has presented a good solution that meets all the requirements in our
request in an excellent manner. EVRY offers the expertise and capacity we need,
it has many relevant certifications and it set out its proposals for the
activities and project implementation in a good manner", comments Arild
Stangeland.
Stangeland adds that the agreement with EVRY will help to ensure more
streamlined, secure and efficient operations and use of the Directorate's
services for information and education systems.
Through this agreement, EVRY will be responsible for routine operating services
and ensuring the stability and quality of operations. EVRY will also ensure the
security of the servers used and ensure protection against unauthorised access,
which will include monitoring, backup services and alarm systems.
"The contract with the Directorate for Education and Training involves demanding
requirements for availability and capacity. We have to provide for 30,000 users
at any time during examinations, and ensure full access throughout the
examination period. EVRY's services will also help to ensure that pupils receive
their school reports and grades", explains Morten Sæther, Senior Vice President
at EVRY
The contract is structured as a flexible agreement so that the scope can be
changed in pace with changing requirements. This means that in addition to
providing capacity for the current deliveries, EVRY will be ready to manage
changes to the solutions and introduce new solutions as required. Accordingly,
EVRY will provide consulting advice, leasing of equipment and software,
installation services, optimalisation, and stress tests in collaboration with
the relevant applications suppliers.
