The Primary Care Sports Medicine Physicians of Methodist Willowbrook Hospital Provide State Mandated Sports Physicals for Area Athletes, ImPACT Baseline Concussion Testing Also Available
(firmenpresse) - HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 05/02/12 -- , team doctors to area high school and college sports teams, gear up for club and school sports with high school sports physicals scheduled for Saturday May 5 and June 2, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the new on the Willowbrook campus -- 13802 Centerfield Drive, 3rd Floor.
The physicals meet the state mandated requirements for participation in school and club sports -- giving young athletes unable to complete their required sports physicals at school an opportunity to see the board-certified primary care sports medicine physicians and licensed athletic trainers to obtain sports physicals required by their sports teams.
The sports physicals are available for $20.00 (cash only). ImPACT Baseline Concussion Testing, used by the NFL, MLB, NHL and NCAA, is also available for an additional $5.00. No appointment is necessary. Athletes should come with their school "physical form" and wear shorts and a T-shirt.
Focusing on the whole patient, Sports Health at Methodist Willowbrook works with hundreds of area athletes to ensure optimal performance through optimal health -- with special emphasis on overuse conditions, concussion management, and medical care focused on athletes.
"We offer these sports physicals to not only help area athletes meet necessary requirements to play school sports, but also give them an opportunity to talk with the trainers and sports health team about their concerns and their goals," said primary care sports medicine physician and fellowship director.
"We work extensively with young athletes to overcome medical problems affecting performance as well as overuse injuries and conditions affecting their musculoskeletal system. The sports physicals are a good time to let them know how to listen to their bodies, train effectively, and refuel to reach their full potential," said Rand.

The 25,000 square foot facility offers expansive running and throwing lanes for athletic evaluations and post injury conditioning, physical and occupational therapies, rehabilitation services, concussion management using computerized neuropsychological testing -- and a human performance lab scheduled to open this summer.
