Mental Health Treatment Facility for Women
(firmenpresse) - SANTA CRUZ, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/02/12 -- Mountain Oak Comprehensive Care (MOCC), PC, has opened a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). PHP is a full day of treatment, and IOP is half day. Both programs run Monday through Friday. This program is the only one of its kind in Santa Cruz County. This day treatment program is of a highly psychotherapeutic nature offering an alternative to a traditional hospital like setting at a considerably reduced financial day rate. MOCC provides voluntary treatment in a peaceful, comfortable, home-like setting. The program is exclusively for women so they can feel safe as they address sensitive topics that could create vulnerability.
There exists a tremendous need for non-hospital mental health care with a strong psychotherapeutic approach. With the onset of managed care in the psychiatric field, the average length of stay in psychiatric hospitals has decreased from over twenty-five days to less than five days. As a result of this short stay, many patients are discharged prematurely and in need of additional support and therapy. Our day treatment program will meet this need by providing intense psychotherapy, psychiatric assessment, follow-up and nursing support as needed. The usual length of stay of a PHP patient would be two or three weeks, and then the patient could step down to half-day treatment with IOP lasting several more weeks. MOCC is able to provide transportation in many cases, with its fifteen passenger van, covering Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties.
