(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 04/25/12 -- Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) commends the pledge from Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism and Rob Nicholson, Justice Minister, to review the cases of two Nazi war criminals known to be alive and living in Canada.

"In our meetings with Ministers Kenney and Nicholson, and with York Centre MP Mark Adler, FSWC and a delegation of Holocaust survivors that accompanied us received a promise to review the files of Vladimir Katriuk and Helmut Oberlander- two Nazis who are living comfortably in our country," said Avi Benlolo, President and CEO of FSWC. "We believe the information we presented to the government will provide sufficient evidence to move forward with the deportation of these individuals and are pleased that they have both agreed to give this pressing matter the attention it deserves."

"There is no joy in seeing these men expelled from Canada, - just the knowledge that we have done something on behalf of those who were killed by these men and hopefully, at last, a sense of justice," explained Holocaust survivor Max Iland.

Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center is proud of the ongoing support shown by the government for the fight against antisemitism and the promotion of human rights around the world, and looks forward to the Ministers' assistance in seeing this issue to its logical conclusion by deporting Oberlander and Katriuk.
