Junior Canadian Rangers to Hold National Marksmanship Championship in Victoria, B.C.
(firmenpresse) - VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/25/12 -- The skills and determination of more than 50 Junior Canadian Rangers (JCRs) from across the nation will be put to test from April 27-29, 2012, as they compete for glory and gold at the National Marksmanship Championship (NMC) at the Albert Head Training Facility in Colwood (Victoria), British Columbia.
The NMC marks the culmination of this year's marksmanship training program and competition circuit for JCRs across Canada. Participants have already successfully competed in local and regional marksmanship competitions.
"The Junior Canadian Rangers Program and this Championship offers youth from across Canada's North a great opportunity to come together in an environment of friendly competition" said the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence. "I wish all of this year's competitors the best of luck over the coming days."
The marksmanship program is an integral part of the JCR curriculum, and teaches self-discipline, builds confidence, and allows JCRs the opportunity to compete equally in a recreational sport that is gender-neutral and a lot of fun!

The JCR Programme offers young people in remote and isolated communities across Canada a unique opportunity to participate in a variety of fun and rewarding activities in an informal setting. Under the supervision of the Canadian Rangers and local adult volunteers, these young Canadians (ages 12 to 18) become active and engaged citizens of their local communities.
