California is preparing for a large demand of skilled and knowledgeable Electric Vehicle (EV) and Hybrid Vehicle Technicians.
To ensure a safe and skilled workforce, all auto technicians will need these new skills! Working auto technicians, new and graduating auto technicians, service writers, auto body, service managers, auto electricians, fleet technicians, shop foreman, gas to electric conversion technicians, tow truck and impound storage personnel and anyone planning to work on an EV or Hybrid must take this training for their own safety. Currently, it is the only program in the nation that prepares students to pass the globally recognized Electronics Technician Association (ETA) EV Certification safety standards.
This training will increase employment opportunities for technicians who work with or around EV or Hybrid vehicles. Technicians that complete this training with have the "know how" to safely work on and diagnose EV and Hybrid vehicles.
AmeriSkills is providing plenty of "Hands On" training tasks during this course. The course materials include the up-to-date technology for both EV and Hybrids. Topics covered are: Identify operating characteristics of Electric Vehicles; Identify Personal Protection equipment (PPE) used when working on EV and Hybrids; Understand the operating principles of AC and DC Electric Motors; Understand Motor Control Technology; Understand battery technology and CANbus error codes; Learn power control Technology; and Learn to operate diagnostic meters/equipment to explain test results.
