At East Vancouver Eatery 'Fray', Earth Day is Every Day!
(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/18/12 -- Fray has been open for barely a year and already it's doing things no start-up restaurant should be doing. Fray is turning a profit for one, and creating dishes and an atmosphere good enough to land a spot in the Georgia Straight's coveted Golden Plate awards. They took third place for Best New Casual Eatery.
What also sets this restaurant apart is the attention to locally sourced ingredients. From the beginning, owner Chris Parry wanted things to be all about BC and more importantly, Earth friendly.
So with Earth Day coming, Fray owners Kyle Polanski and Chris Parry asked themselves what they should do to mark the occasion.
The answer? "What we do every day," says Polanski. "Serve the best local, fresh food in the city, support local farms and suppliers, and offer the best selection of B.C.-based draft microbrews and wines we can find."
"We wanted to find a neighbourhood to put it in where locals can simply walk to," adds Parry, "it helps minimize everyone's carbon footprint."
At 3980 Fraser Street many who live nearby have already been talking about Fray as something the area has needed for years. A nice, funky place they can go without having to head all the way into the downtown core.
