(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/18/12 -- Results from the 2011 Survey of Recruiting Trends shows an increasing number of employers and professionals connecting through industry specific .

The recruiting and employment resource centre has released results from their 2011 Survey of Recruiting Trends. The results confirm the growth of online jobsites, including industry specific jobsites.

The survey shows that 69% of job seekers found the internet helpful in their job search and 69.7% expect to find their next job through an online jobsite. 34% stated they had already found their current job online and 58% said they visited one or more jobsites up to 8 times a month.

Employers are going where the job seekers are. 40.7% of those surveyed said they use online jobsites in their hiring process, compared to 11.1% and 5.6% who said they post their jobs on their own website and use social media respectively. 54.1% of employers said the quality of the applicants they received was above average or among their best employees.

This trend has paved the way for growth of industry specific jobsites, such as , a jobsite specializing in marketing, communications and creative jobs in Canada; TotalLegalJobs.ca, serving the legal employment industry; 86Network.com, a site focusing on restaurant jobs; and CallMeStaffing.com, a jobsite for the call centre industry.

These jobsites provide an alternative to the everything-for-everyone model that larger jobsites such as Monster.ca and Workopolis.com have taken. Janet Mitchell, Director of Communication and Public Education at the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation had this to say about her experience posting a marketing and communications job on industry specific site FreshGigs.ca, "I love being able to access a site that focuses on marketing, creative and communications jobs, so I can find candidates whose experience is truly relevant to what I'm looking for."
