What makes a 5-year-old happy? For children in Toronto child care centres it's lunch with mom, a dog's wagging tail, the colour purple or a long table for lots of people to sit at.
On April 20, kids from all over will take part in The Big Picture, a celebration of what makes young children happy. This marks Global Action Week, the Global Campaign for Education's annual education awareness event, The Big Picture focuses on the importance of Early Childhood Care and Education for improving child well-being.
The Big Picture includes an outdoor event hosting 120 young children and their caregivers and parents. Highlights include: a 250 foot art installation of children's artwork answering the question "What makes me happy?" Also on hand to talk to the kids is; Gisele from TVOKids "Gisele's Big Backyard", children's author Marla Stewart Konrad (Tundra Books), children's rights advocate the Honourable Landon Pearson and an interactive panel of experts discussing progress and challenges in ECCE.
