Luminus Optimizes Fixture Performance With New Optics From Fraen
New Family of Patent-Pending Optics Delivers Highest Center Beam Candle Power and Exceptional Uniformity With Luminus Big Chip LEDs for Retail Spot Lighting
(firmenpresse) - FRANKFURT, GERMANY -- (Marketwire) -- 04/13/12 -- Luminus Devices, Inc., and Fraen Optics today announced the release of the FML series of optics, specifically designed to maximize the performance of Luminus SST-90 and SSM-80 LEDs. The new family of patent-pending total internal reflection (TIR) optics, in conjunction with Luminus Big Chip LED technology, establishes a new performance benchmark for power, uniformity and efficiency. When mated with Luminus' SST-90 warm white LED, the FML spot optic produces a full divergence angle under 10-degrees with an industry leading l7,000 candela and Energy Star compliant efficacy. The FML series consists of a complete range of optics with output beam patterns including spot, narrow, medium, wide, elliptical and flood.

TIR optics are frequently preferred over reflectors due to higher optical efficiency and center beam brightness in spot lighting applications. According to David Cohen, Chief Operating Officer of Fraen Optics, "Fraen really pushed the limits of physics with this new family of optics. Part of the secret sauce with the FML series is an innovative optical mixing chamber that homogenizes the input from the LED to deliver a stunningly uniform beam." Luminus will be exhibiting at the upcoming Light + Building exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany at the Messe Frankfurt from April 15-20 in Hall 4.2, Stand G02, where the new optics will be on display.
