(firmenpresse) - IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/12/12 -- Orange County Business Council (OCBC) released the following statement today in response to the California High-Speed Rail Authority's approval of the Revised 2012 Business Plan, including an affirmation that Anaheim will be a part of the high-speed rail system, and committing that the Authority will work to identify an alternative to provide a "one-seat ride" -- with no change in trains -- from San Francisco into Anaheim.

"We are delighted with the news!" said OCBC President and CEO, Lucy Dunn. "Anaheim's importance as one of the state's leading employment centers and tourist destinations for the region cannot be overstated. And Orange County's continued economic vitality depends on an effective multi-model 21st century transportation system. OCBC commends the California High-Speed Rail Authority for engaging in a public process that responded to the top concerns of this County's residents and businesses. We at OCBC remain committed to working with you to implement the Authority's revised Business Plan and build a safe, cost-efficient high speed rail system over the years ahead."

As the sixth largest county in the nation, and boasting one of the lowest unemployment rates in California, Orange County is leading the state's economic recovery. The future of the region and state rely on infrastructure that connects economic and population centers together, allowing for efficient movement of goods and people. Thus, enhancing investment in California's infrastructure is a core initiative of OCBC. Orange County must retain its place at the table on discussions about the state's transportation resources with state leadership to ensure California's mobility and a successful business climate.
