"Hands-On, Minds-On" Fun at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center's Grand Opening of New Interactive Exhibits and Programs
(firmenpresse) - MADISON, WI -- (Marketwire) -- 04/05/12 -- The Aldo Leopold Nature Center (ALNC) will unveil its 11,000 square foot addition, new, innovative exhibits and interactive programs at a festive Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, April 21 from 11 am - 3 pm.
By combining the nature center's hands-on nature programs with unique high-tech exhibits, ALNC will teach visitors of all ages about the complex interactions behind life on earth and what they can do to create a sustainable future.
The free event will feature a spectacular lineup of demonstrations, tours, performances and activities where visitors can:
See the earth from space in the Science On a Sphere, a high-definition projection system displaying NOAA & NASA data onto a six-foot diameter sphere!
Investigate scientific data with the interactive exhibit Global Warming: Facts & Our Future, created by the National Academy of Sciences!
Meet the Cat in the Hat and play a part of a live performance of Dr. Seuss' The Lorax!
Watch demonstration and presentations by celebrity guests, ALNC naturalists, meteorologists, scientists and more!
Experience what it is like to be inside a storm in the Storms 360 Immersion Theater!
Give a weather forecast in the Kid's Climate Cast studio brought to you by WKOW TV-27!
Explore green energy technology with Madison Gas and Electric's Renewable Energy Center and electric car charging station!
Get up close to nature in the Nina Leopold Bradley Family Phenology Center!
Get a behind-the-scenes tour of the green building features incorporated into the new expansion!
Sing along with children's performer Stuart Stotts!
To complete the project, ALNC partnered with science, civic, education and technology experts, including the University of Wisconsin's Nelson Institute's Center for Sustainability and Global Environment, Weather Central, the Leopold family and Milwaukee Area Technical Colleges as well as local businesses.
