When Robb Scott began his art career 12 years ago he was flat broke, hopeless, and knew nothing about selling art. Thankfully he didn't let those obstacles deter him. Now the 37 year old artist is working with sports icons like Sidney Crosby, Michael Jordan and Bobby Orr.
But success hasn't come easy for Robb. He sold art door to door, on street corners, in restaurants, at trade shows and to tourists during summers on the Halifax waterfront. Nine years into his career, despite working hard to survive, he was still broke and contemplating quitting altogether.
"Something told me if I didn't give up I would eventually get that one opportunity," said Robb Scott. It wasn't long after that one opportunity finally arrived in 2009 when he became the official artist of legendary race horse, Somebeachsomewhere. That drawing captured attention across Nova Scotia and gave Robb the confidence to go bigger.
What followed surpassed even Robb's wildest dreams. He became the first Canadian artist ever authorized to work with Sidney Crosby. A major deal that opened a lot of doors. A project with Michael Jordan followed. Then Bobby Orr jumped on board. Now Wayne Gretzky and Tiger Woods have expressed their willingness to work with Robb.
Robb Scott has finally found his niche and is becoming one of the fastest rising sports artist in Canada.
