Infocast Durable BioPlastics Summit Showcases Rapid Advances in End-User Applications and R&D
(firmenpresse) - MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- (Marketwire) -- 04/04/12 -- Infocast is thrilled to launch the first ever dedicated Durable BioPlastics Summit to be held at the Hilton Minneapolis in Minneapolis, MN, from April 25-26, 2012. The Summit will encompass the R&D pipeline all the way to commercial development, with an emphasis on application development and the status of technical downstream integration.
Bio-based polymers are growing in the double digits annually and the sky appears to be the limit for greening the colossal global markets for plastics. Powerhouses, BioAmber and Natureworks have agreed to join forces to expand the range of low carbon-footprint, high-performance, bio-based polymers. These game changing companies, along with many others, will be speaking at the upcoming Durable BioPlastics Summit.
In addition, leading brand owners such as Ford Motor Company, NEC Corporation and Xerox will be on hand to discuss how they are working with biopolymers for durable applications. Emile Homsi, Vice President of Research & Technology at DSM Engineering Plastics USA will keynote the Summit.
The Durable BioPlastics Summit will feature presentations from incumbent players Dow Chemical, TeknorApex, RTP Company and the Woodbridge Group as well as new entrants including BioAmber, Myriant, TianAn BioPolymer, Virent, Algix, Virdia (formerly HCL Cleantech) and Micromidas. Trade groups supporting the event include ACS Green Chemistry Institute, AIChE, CBiRC, European Bioplastics Association, nova-Institute, with bioplastics MAGAZINE as a premiere media partner.
An Introduction to BioPlastics Workshop precedes the Summit and will offer a tutorial for new entrants in this blooming industry. The workshop will also examine key issues such as potential new application areas, bioplastic properties in comparison with petroleum based plastics, as well as LCA's and end-of-life issues.
