Media Advisory: Governor General to Mark the Beginning of the Canadian Cancer Society's Daffodil Campaign
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 04/02/12 -- Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will receive a bouquet of daffodils from two young cancer patients to mark the beginning of the Canadian Cancer Society's Daffodil Campaign for 2012. The bouquet presentation will take place on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., in the greenhouses of Rideau Hall.
April, commonly known as Daffodil Month, is the month to fight back against cancer. Across the country, Canadian Cancer Society volunteers will be selling bright yellow daffodil pins, as well as fresh daffodils, which symbolize strength and courage in the fight against cancer. By wearing the pin throughout the month of April-and especially on Daffodil Day, April 27-Canadians will show solidarity with people living with cancer.
Funds raised during the Daffodil Campaign will help the Society fund promising cancer research in prevention and treatment; inform and support Canadians living with cancer; and advocate for public policies to improve the health of Canadians.
