Pumped Up Petrol Prices Hit Easter Bank Holiday Motorists

Petrol prices are now averaged at 140.9 pence per litre compared with 132.9 pence per litre this time last year. This means that for a family driving a Ford Mondeo (50.4 mpg) who average 10,000 miles a year, paid GBP 1196 for fuel during 2011. With fuel increases at the back end of last year and more since the start of 2012, the same family is expected to now fork out GBP 1260 for fuel this year.
Swinton is estimating that over 10 million motorists will be on the roads over Easter taking advantage of the long bank holiday weekend. For motorists travelling the breadth and depth of the country, the increase in petrol prices could mean for many families that holiday spending budgets are significantly reduced compared to previous years.
With fuel prices showing no sign of falling, Swinton is helping motorists by offering some tips to drive more fuel efficiently:
