Below are Trustmark's top tips for dealing with any plumbing issues you have from winter, before they get worse.
First of all, after the winter rain and frost has been and gone you should check the guttering and the roof, as the winter may have taken its toll on both. The roof should be checked for slipped, cracked and maybe even broken tiles and also, if the water in your guttering isn't running freely then it can overflow and lead to serious damp problems, costing you more in the long run.
You can also help to protect your home from any kind of damp by giving it a lick of paint. So not only will it smarten up the look of your house but also benefit it.
If there's been a particularly frosty winter then you ought to check out the pipes and the plumbing in your home especially those pipes that are external or in the roof space. The frost may have caused frost damage to some of the plumbing in your house. Also any kind of leak however small needs to be seen too and if you need any new products, you could visit and check out their range of products.
Although a small leak may not seem such a pressing thing to sort out it will only get worse, so the sooner you sort it out the better. There are a number of other things that you can do to 'spring-proof' your home after winter, but you could also pay for someone to come in and do it for you.
