The 2009 Health Information Technology Act (HITECH Act) provides $48 billion to help fund Medicare and Medicaid incentives to eligible hospitals and physicians that demonstrate meaningful use of Electronic Health Records. Long Term Care and Post-Acute Care (LTPAC) providers were excluded from the Act's definition of eligible provider and are currently not qualified to receive HIT payments.
