BridgeNet International Awarded Aviation Week and Space Technology's Innovation Challenge Award for VOLANS Software
(firmenpresse) - NEWPORT BEACH, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/22/12 -- BridgeNet International, which specializes in airport environmental, airspace and procedure modeling, won Aviation Week and Space Technology's 2012 Innovation Challenge in the Software category for its 3D VOLANS application. Aviation Week's Innovation Challenge recognizes and promotes the groundbreaking work being done within the aerospace and defense (A&D) industry. Winners of the eight Innovation Challenge categories were presented with their awards at an event presided over by Aviation Week's President Gregory Hamilton and Editor-in-Chief Anthony Velocci and acknowledged at the Aviation Week Laureate Awards Banquet.

VOLANS is an Internet-based rapid prototyping application to create, evaluate and display flight procedures in 3D. The software is being used by air traffic organizations and airports to visualize Next Generation surveillance and navigation technology and to graphically demonstration the Today/Tomorrow difference. Complex programs such as Performance Based Navigation (PNB) can be visualized to enhance understanding by graphically illustrating the technology, how it is different and what are the benefits.
VOLANS is currently used by three international air navigation service providers and three airports in the United States, San Francisco International Airport, Truckee Tahoe Airport and Jackson Hole Airport for the evaluation and communication of NextGen technology and procedures.
