(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 03/22/12 -- On the eve of the upcoming federal budget, a coalition of six unions representing Canada's federal public service professionals has launched a major social media-based campaign to stop the government from undermining programs and services that keep Canadians safe.

The member unions of the "Professionals Serving Canadians" coalition represent more than 75,000 scientists, engineers, pilots, medical professionals, economists, lawyers, IT specialists, auditors and financial officers, as well as many other professionals working at federal departments and agencies.

"Public service professionals are passionately committed to keeping Canadians, communities and the environment safe and secure," said Gary Corbett on behalf of the coalition. "Cutting programs and services, as anticipated in the upcoming federal budget, will negatively impact the safety and security of Canadians and harm the prosperity of communities across the country."

The "Professionals Serving Canadians" campaign will help build a vibrant network of Canadians from coast to coast who are committed to defending the public programs and services that keep their communities safe.

Professionals Serving Canadians (PSC) includes: The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC), the Association of Canadian Financial Officers (ACFO), the Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE), the Canadian Federal Pilots Association (CFPA), the Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO), and the Association of Justice Counsel (AJC).
