Winner to Present Idea to Financial Industry Audience at Renowned Conference
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 03/20/12 -- The Sohn Conference Foundation today announced the launch of this year's Sohn Investment Idea Contest ahead of its 17th annual conference, to take place May 16, 2012, from 12:00pm - 6:00pm at New York City's Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center. Contest participants are to submit their best investment idea by 11pm (ET) on Wednesday, May 9, 2012; selections can be any marketable security (long or short) with a market capitalization above $1 billion. The winner will be selected based on the judges' determination of the most compelling investment idea with a one-year horizon.
A distinguished group of judges led by legendary investor Michael Price and including celebrated investors Bill Ackman, David Einhorn, Joel Greenblatt and Seth Klarman will determine the most compelling investment idea.
For the past 16 years, the Sohn Investment Conference has brought together a group of highly-successful investors to present their best investment ideas. The conference allows portfolio managers, asset allocators, and private investors an opportunity to learn about the strategy and specific investment ideas of the world's best investors. Funds raised from the conference support the treatment and cure of pediatric cancer and other childhood diseases. To date, the event has raised more than $20 million.

The was founded in 1995 after the untimely passing of Ira Sohn. Sohn was a successful trader on Wall Street who battled cancer and passed away at the age of 29. His courageous battle with cancer inspired his friends to launch the annual Sohn Investment Conference.
Proceeds from the conference are donated to organizations dedicated to the care and treatment of children with pediatric cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The organizations served include Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York University Medical Center, Columbia Presbyterian, New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Hackensack University Medical Center.
