Berkeley Veterinarian Offers Dog Boarding at Local Animal Hospital
(firmenpresse) - BERKELEY, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/20/12 -- Dr. Jas Mattu, the Berkeley veterinarian who runs the University Veterinary Hospital, wants to inform pet owners planning to go away on vacation that the provides cat and dog boarding services in addition to animal wellcare. Mattu cautions area residents against leaving their pets at home alone, even over the weekend, because of the possible dangers. He warns that both cats and dogs can get into trouble, injure themselves or damage property out of curiosity or separation anxiety, and are much safer if they are boarded and supervised while their families are out of town.
Dr. Mattu explains that he built up the animal hospital's cat and because he saw a real need in the community. "We have a lot of students and professors who all go on vacation at the same time -- over spring break, summer vacation, or Memorial Day weekend -- so sometimes it's hard to find a trusted friend or relative to check in regularly on a pet. So it's a logical extension of our wellcare services to provide pet boarding as well."
According to the , both cats and dogs can suffer from separation anxiety if they are left home alone for a few hours, let alone days. Dogs in particular have injured themselves and damaged property trying to escape to find their families. They may also chew things, get into dangerous substances or soil the house in frustration. He urges pet owners to consider the health and comfort of their pets and make arrangements for them to stay at the veterinary hospital where they can be safe and enjoy their time away from home.
Dr. Mattu explains that he and his staff strive to provide a safe and stimulating environment for pets staying with them. They regularly sanitize the boarding areas, and require all boarded animals to be up-to-date on their vaccinations and their flea and tick prevention medication. Families can bring their pet's bedding, a favorite toy, their regular food, treats and other necessities. If needed, the hospital staff can administer a pet's medications as well, and they also spend time playing and interacting with the animals.
Dr. Mattu says that the best thing about boarding pets at the hospital is that owners can have peace of mind about their pets while they are away on vacation. "If something goes wrong while the family is away, we are right there to notice and care for the pet in our hospital if necessary. And we always try to make sure that the animals enjoy themselves while they are with us so that it seems like a fun vacation for them too."
