Scottsdale Cosmetic Dentistry Practice Acquires New Dental Scanning Technology

Dr. Coombs says the new technology offers several benefits to patient comfort and more accurate planning for and other procedures.
As a , Dr. Coombs will be introducing the cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanner to his patient services to help increase comfort and efficiency during dental treatment. With a radiation dose one hundred times lower than regular CT scanners, the new cone beam technology offers patients safer and faster image-taking. Dr. Coombs says he is excited about the new device and hopes it helps promote the most positive dental experience possible for patients at his practice.
Through the use of a cone shaped X-ray beam, Dr. Coombs says the imaging device offers a smaller size machine, lower radiation dosages, and a quicker procedure. Most commonly used for diagnostic purposes, he says he hopes to use the cone beam CT scan for , helping him achieve the most accurate placement and positioning possible. By utilizing X-ray technology, the cone beam produces clear, detailed images of bone, muscle, and blood vessels to help dentists diagnose patient health concerns and plan for more precise implantation and treatment approaches.
Dr. Coombs says he hopes the cone beam device alleviates patient concerns about uncomfortable X-ray imaging and radiation, all while improving his ability to treat his patients with the utmost care. He adds that through the advancement of state-of-the-art technology like the cone beam, dentists will ultimately be able to provide the highest quality results and more satisfactory patient outcomes.
A graduate of the University of Louisville, is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. He has earned "Fellowship" status with the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor bestowed upon only 3% of dentists, for his hundreds of hours of continued education.
