American Petro-Hunter Announces NOM-3H Horizontal Well Begins Commercial Sales -- Initial Production Rates Exceed 200 BPD Oil and 400 MCF Gas in Oklahoma
(firmenpresse) - SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 03/19/12 -- (OTCBB: AAPH) ("American Petro-Hunter" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that the NOM-3H horizontal oil and gas well has begun commercial oil and gas sales. The well has shipped an inaugural 1,000 barrels following the first weeks of production.
This is the Company's 3rd horizontal well in North Oklahoma and is producing from the Mississippi Lime formation. The I.P.R. (Initial Production Rate) of the well exceeded 200 barrels of oil per day and 400 MCF gas.
The NOM-3H was drilled with a total of 1,988 feet into the horizontal well segment penetrating the over 100 foot thick Mississippi pay zone. A large frack was conducted and the well was put on pump with the installation of a submersible unit capable of moving 1,500 barrels per day of fluid.
The initial production rate (I.P.R.) is initial flush production, and at this early stage may not be indicative of overall performance as a decline of the rate based on analog comparisons is anticipated. Having said this, we are experiencing the best I.P.R.'s so far experienced to-date on the Company's leases. The initial rates are further validating our newly designed completion and frack methodology ensuring future wells will have a similar procedure implemented. The NOM 3H well brings the Company to a total of 8 producing wells in Oklahoma and Kansas.
American Petro-Hunter currently owns an interest in approximately 6,000 acres in the area which is known as one of the hottest horizontal oil plays in the continental United States. Approximately 20 horizontal wells have now been drilled in the immediate area of the Company's leases and are producing from both the Woodford Shale and the Mississippi Limestone. Both of these formations are significant oil producers with very high BTU wet natural gas.
