Public Safety Minister Toews Commends BC RCMP on Shut Down of Grow Operations
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 03/16/12 -- The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety today commended the efforts of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Northern British Columbia for their success in shutting down grow operations:
"Over the last 15 months, the Cariboo Region Integrated Marihuana Enforcement (CRIME) Task Force has disrupted the ability of organized crime to profit from illegal grow operations. The CRIME Task Force has seized almost 120,000 plants, nearly 11 tons of marihuana which resulted in charges against 78 people. I would like to commend the task force on their significant success in identifying and putting a stop to the growth and distribution of illegal drugs," said Minister Toews.
"Marihuana grow operations fuel organized crime and threaten the safety of our citizens and security of our communities. I am very happy that the RCMP in British Columbia will build on the excellent work of the CRIME Task Force, through the creation of a new unit, the Northern District Integrated Marihuana Enforcement (NDIME) Task Force, that will ensure that criminals cannot set up new operations in Northern British Columbia."
