Public Safety Minister Toews Comments on Arrest and Removal by the CBSA
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 03/15/12 -- The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, issued the following statement after the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced the removal of Lorenzo Salvador Cid Guerra, and arrest of Johnny Cipriano Salazar Gonzales, both on the "Wanted by the CBSA" list.
"I commend the CBSA on their continued efforts to identify, detain and remove individuals who pose a threat to our communities.
Mr. Cid Guerra, the 14th individual from the "Wanted by the CBSA" list to be removed, was apprehended by the Toronto Police Service on March 3. 2012. He is inadmissible to Canada on the grounds of organized criminality.
In addition, the CBSA apprehended a 22nd individual from the "Wanted by the CBSA" list on March 13, 2012 in Cardston, Alberta. Mr. Salazar Gonzales is inadmissible because he has been convicted of an offence outside of Canada that, if committed in Canada, would constitute a Canadian offence.
Our Government remains committed to the safety and security of Canadians."
