KDDI and Global Brain Corporation Partner to Support Technology Ventures in the U.S. and Asia Pacific
Furthering the Advancement of High Quality Global Interconnectivity Solutions
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 03/15/12 -- KDDI America Inc., the U.S. division of KDDI CORPORATION, a Fortune Global 500 company and worldwide leader in international telecommunications services, announces today that KDDI Corporation, in partnership with Global Brain Corporation, has established a new $66 million (5 billion yen) investment fund, which assists startup companies in the United States, Japan and other Asia-Pacific regions. The fund, aimed primarily at companies in the mobile space, represents the first corporate venture capital fund established by KDDI.
Global Brain Corporation, a Japanese venture capital firm that focuses on seed- and early-stage businesses, will manage the fund for KDDI. Through the fund, KDDI will invest in a series of cooperative activities; provide support service development and platforms for cloud services; and cooperate in promotional activities that assist the growth of startup companies.
