(firmenpresse) - EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/06/12 -- Mark W. Flint, P. Eng., becomes CEO of The Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta effective Monday, April 16, 2012.

Flint comes to the post after more than two decades of leadership in the Canadian Armed Forces where he was most recently Commanding Officer of the Mission Transition Task Force Engineer Regiment in Kandahar, Afghanistan where he led the engineering effort for the orderly withdrawal and relocation of Canadian equipment, supplies and personnel.

"I'm humbled to have this unique opportunity to contribute to such an outstanding organization and I'm excited about the challenges that lie ahead in continuing to keep APEGGA a highly professional and relevant organization within Alberta, as well as nationally and internationally," said Flint.

During his more than two decades in the Canadian Forces as a Military Engineer, he has served across the country in both official languages. Various command and staff appointments include Chief Engineer for Canadian Expeditionary Forces Command (Ottawa) and Commanding Officer of 1 Combat Engineer Regiment (Edmonton). His career also includes significant experience in training and mentoring, human resources management and strategic planning.

Established in 1920, APEGGA is responsible for regulating the practices of engineering, geology and geophysics in the province of Alberta. It is the largest self-regulating professional association in western Canada. The association's more than 63,000 members play a significant role in every segment of the economy and their technical and management expertise ensure Alberta remains at the forefront of technological innovation.





The association is actively involved in issues and initiatives including the skilled knowledge worker shortage in Alberta, inclusion of women and Aboriginals in the professions, assisting internationally educated applicants, mobility of those licensed to practice engineering and geoscience, qualifications based selection of consultants as well as its regulatory, discipline and compliance roles.
