The Entertainment Technology Center @ USC Appoints Three New Board Members
(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/06/12 -- The Entertainment Technology Center at The University of Southern California (ETC(at)USC), a non-profit consortium that brings entertainment studios, consumer electronics manufacturers and other key industry stakeholders together in order to improve the appeal of digital entertainment, is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to the organization's board.
Bryan Ellenburg of Paramount, Don Eklund of Sony and David Wertheimer of Fox were appointed to the board at recent meetings. Wertheimer recently stepped down from his post of CEO and executive director of the ETC(at)USC to take the position of president, digital at Fox.
Wertheimer will now become FOX's representative on the ETC(at)USC board. He plans to remain extremely active and will continue to be a strong advocate of the center's value to the fields of technology and entertainment.
"Having been at the helm of ETC(at)USC for nearly five years, I know what an invaluable service the center is to the entertainment and technology community," said Wertheimer. "I look forward to serving ETC(at)USC in this new role with my fellow board members. My objective is to facilitate collaboration, continue to help improve the consumption of digital and affect the future of technology and entertainment."
In response to his appointment to the ETC(at)USC board of directors, Eklund said, "The Entertainment Technology Center is a unique and valuable resource for promoting technology in our industry and I look forward to representing Sony Pictures on the board."
Ellenburg remarked, "The entertainment industry has reached a critical inflection point in how content is captured, transformed, distributed, and archived. As higher resolution and faster frame rates gain traction theatrically, then into consumer homes, the Entertainment Technology Center will play an important role in shaping the consumption models of tomorrow. I look forward to collaborating on these important endeavors with our studio colleagues, technology partners, and with the continued support of the Entertainment Technology Center at the University of Southern California."
The Entertainment Technology Center (at) USC, founded in 1993 with the help of George Lucas, is a non-profit organization within USC's School of Cinematic Arts. The ETC brings together the top entertainment, technology and consumer electronics companies to evaluate what consumers really want, which is then translated to the companies that make technology products. The ETC strives to show how technology impacts the next generation consumer, which will improve the consumer experience and will uncover new revenue streams for entertainment-related products.
