EADS North America Makes Significant Contribution to Women In Defense Scholarship Program
(firmenpresse) - HERNDON, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/29/12 -- EADS North America announced it has contributed $10,000 to Women In Defense (WID) for the HORIZONS Scholarship Program. This contribution will help the program reach its fundraising goal for this fiscal year. In addition, it will further the mission of both HORIZONS and WID to support the development and recognition of women involved in every aspect of national security.
"EADS North America is pleased to make a difference in the lives of women studying science, technology, engineering, and mathematics," said Sean O'Keefe, Chairman and CEO of EADS North America. "Our contribution is an investment in the future defense industry and its workforce."
Since it began in 1988, the HORIZONS program has provided scholarships in increasing amounts each year. In total, over 110 scholarships worth more than $150,000 have been awarded to students enrolled in either undergraduate or graduate programs. The goal of the program is to help as many students as possible, while awarding scholarships in amounts that will make a real impact.
"This donation for HORIZONS is significant and I cannot say thank you enough," said Brenda McKinney, who serves as the HORIZONS Scholarship Director on the WID National Board of Directors. "This contribution from EADS North America will create a wonderful opportunity to help a number of deserving young women pursue their studies," she added.
