ID: 1087125

(firmenpresse) - BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/27/12 -- WorldCare Clinical, LLC (WCC), a leading imaging CRO focused on maximizing the precision and accuracy of independent assessments in clinical trials, today announced it is hosting a complimentary conference on Imaging in Clinical Trials - Removing Bias and Increasing Precision and Accuracy, which will be held on Friday, April 27, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Boston at Beacon Hill. This complimentary conference is being held in conjunction with the Imaging Biomarkers in Clinical Trials conference sponsored by the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Department of Radiology on April 27-28, 2012.

WCC's complimentary session will feature its own in-house experts, who will discuss the operational considerations for conducting imaging clinical trials and the value of a blinded independent central review (BICR), including when and why to include one in a study design. Additionally, they'll examine the importance of reader training, testing and variability monitoring, as well as innovative digital solutions for optimizing workflow and site management.

Imaging Biomarkers in Clinical Trials: Current Practice & Future Trends, which will be held in the O'Keefe Auditorium at MGH in Boston, is a two-day conference featuring keynote speaker Dwaine Rieves, MD, director of the FDA's Division of Medical Imaging Products, and experts from MGH. Speakers will review the current practice of imaging biomarkers in clinical trials in oncology, cardiovascular, metabolic, bone and joint diseases and highlight advanced imaging techniques that have potential as surrogate biomarkers.

Imaging biomarkers serve as important endpoints for clinical trials in the approval process for therapeutic drugs. Various criteria have been developed for objective interpretation of imaging studies. Additionally, there are emerging imaging techniques that have the potential for applications as surrogate endpoints for clinical trials. This conference will provide valuable insight for medical directors, physicians, and PhD scientists at academic medical centers, pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, and biotechnology companies that design and manage clinical trials, as well as radiologists who interpret images and non-radiologists involved in imaging clinical trials. Attendees will hear from experts on the latest imaging criteria, including RECIST and WHO, novel imaging biomarkers and emerging modalities like PET/MR, elastography, DCE, and perfusion being used in drug development.

The educational format of the conference will give attendees an opportunity to hear from leading experts and participate in Q&A sessions on topics relating to imaging biomarkers and advanced imaging techniques. Additionally, case studies of previous clinical trials and their successes and failures will be referenced.
