Minister Raitt Congratulates Air Canada and the Canadian Airline Dispatchers Association on Ratifying a Collective Agreement
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/23/12 -- Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, congratulated Air Canada and the Canadian Airline Dispatchers Association for ratifying a new collective agreement.
"I am very pleased that Air Canada and the Canadian Airline Dispatchers Association have successfully reached a negotiated agreement without interruption to services," said Minister Raitt. "Strong labour-management relations benefit our country's economic prosperity and the economic security of Canadians."
The Canadian Airline Dispatchers Association covers a unit of approximately 75 flight dispatchers who are responsible for planning and monitoring the progress of aircraft journeys. The parties reached their new agreement through direct negotiations.
The Labour Program develops, administers and enforces workplace legislation and regulations, such as the Canada Labour Code, that cover industrial relations, health and safety, and employment standards. These laws apply to federally regulated workers and employers.
