Tier One U.S. Operator Selects Tekelec for New LTE Diameter Network
Operator to Deploy Core Diameter Routing for LTE Network Expansion, Roaming Services, Traffic Management and New Services
(firmenpresse) - MORRISVILLE, NC -- (Marketwire) -- 02/23/12 -- A tier one U.S. operator has selected , the mobile broadband solutions company, to provide core Diameter routing, intelligent policy traffic routing and security for its LTE network.
Tekelec's will help the operator:
When new network elements are added, such as mobility management entities (MMEs) and home subscriber servers (HSSs), the DSR will serve as the central storehouse for all routing updates. This lowers operating expenses and simplifies provisioning by supporting updates and changing equipment as the network grows.
The DSR will serve as a secure gateway to other LTE networks, allowing the operator to deliver seamless roaming and handoffs between partner LTE networks.
Centralized and intelligent routing of Diameter messages will allow the operator to balance Diameter signaling and data traffic across multiple network elements like charging and policy systems, subscriber databases and mobility management systems to provide the most efficient use of network resources and reduce network congestion.
The DSR will also serve as a Policy Diameter Routing Agent (DRA) and perform policy binding so that one policy server can track a subscriber's multiple services such as web browsing and video streaming. This allows the operator to deliver and track usage-based services in real time.
The DSR acts a single interconnect point with other networks, hiding network topology to protect subscriber and network information.

This is the fourth U.S. LTE operator to choose a new Diameter network from Tekelec. Earlier this month, industry analysis firm Infonetics Research as the "front runner" of the Diameter signaling control market.
