BMW goes for AVL Testing Technology in R&D and Emission Certification
BMW builds a modern test center in Munich with six emission chassis dynamometers, five SHED chambers and one Running Loss SHED. The all-wheel drive configuration will be suitable for all vehicle types of the BMW Group - from the Mini series up to big Rolls Royce cars. Modern AVL testing technology ensures the efficient implementation of development and emissions certification tests.
(firmenpresse) - After an intensive evaluation period of the AVL automation and exhaust measurement at chassis dynamometers located at BMW Steyr in Austria, BMW has opted for AVL as a supplier for all testing equipment - this includes the chassis dynamometers, the automation iGEM Vehicle, the emission benches i60 and the SHED test facilities for evaporative and exhaust emission tests in accordance with national and international legislations. Furthermore BMW relies on proven AVL FuelExact measuring systems as basis for the consumption optimization process in the powertrain test field.
In order to utilize the testing facilities in the most effective way for both R&D and testing CoP (conformity of production) they will be operated in 3 shifts. Based on own experience in operation of testfields AVL developed an appropriate concept to meet BMWs high requirements towards availability of the test systems.
