The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, took time during his visit to Winnipeg today to hold roundtable discussions with members of Unit #283 of Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada (ANAVETS), the oldest Veterans' organization in Canada.
Minister Blaney said his meeting with members of ANAVETS was part of his ongoing efforts to consult widely and frankly with Veterans and their families to ensure the Government is meeting the needs of all Veterans.
"I am honoured to have had the chance to hear first-hand from Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans group in Winnipeg," said Minister Blaney. "By holding roundtable discussions, our Government is listening to the concerns of our Veterans and their families."
Minister Blaney was in Winnipeg today to announce the launch of his Cutting Red Tape initiative, which is primarily focused on making the policies and programs at Veterans Affairs Canada less complicated and its services easier to access. Minister Blaney said further improvements will be announced in the coming months.
"As I travel across the country and meet with various Veterans groups, I am able to receive the necessary feedback I need to better serve our nation's heroes," said Minister Blaney. "Our Government will continue to work hard to ensure our Veterans have the care and support they need."
