Inception Media Group Signs Exclusive North America License and Distribution Agreement With Smithsonian Channel

Inception Entrusted With Bringing Iconic Smithsonian Brand to Home Video

(firmenpresse) - SANTA MONICA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/21/12 -- Inception Media Group, LLC, a diversified media company specializing in the production, acquisition and distribution of entertainment content, today announced it has entered into an exclusive North America home video licensing and distribution deal with Smithsonian Channel, a joint venture between Showtime Networks, Inc. and the Smithsonian Institution, representing one of the most well-respected and revered brands of content in the world.

Smithsonian Channel celebrates the American experience with original non-fiction programming that entertains, educates and inspires. The network examines topics that Americans are passionate about, putting the spotlight on the achievements and artifacts that define the American experience. Smithsonian Channel's award-winning programs are largely inspired by the assets of the Smithsonian Institution, the world's largest museum complex.

The first release under the agreement will be, "Titanoboa: Monster Snake." Scheduled to be available on home video in April 2012, Titanoboa tells the true story of a group of intrepid scientists who, in 2009, unearth a priceless paleontological treasure trove deep in the Cerrejon Mine, Colombia. The fossilized remains found reveal that of a gigantic snake believed to have been approximately 48 feet in length, weighing 2500 pounds and living 60 million years ago.

Other upcoming titles that Inception will be distributing are "Titanic's Final Mystery," a documentary, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Titanic disaster, that reveals and explains the missing pieces in our knowledge of the infamous sinking and ensuing loss of life; the popular Smithsonian Channel series "Aerial America" and "Undersea Edens."
