Minister Raitt Congratulates Air Canada and the CAW-Canada on Ratifying a New Collective Agreement
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/20/12 -- Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, congratulated Air Canada and the National Automobile, Aerospace, Transportation and General Workers Union of Canada (CAW-Canada) Local 2002, on reaching a collective agreement for a unit of approximately 44 flight operations crew scheduling personnel.
"I am very pleased that Air Canada and the CAW-Canada worked together to successfully negotiate a collective agreement," said Minister Raitt. "I applaud both parties for maintaining strong labour-management relations during a period of economic fragility."
The CAW-Canada unit of flight operations crew scheduling personnel had been without a collective agreement since May 22, 2011. Air Canada and CAW-Canada also ratified a new collective agreement for a unit of approximately 75 in-flight service crew scheduling personnel.
The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
